A Celebration of Art, Culture, and Spirit
Big Sur, California, June 29 through July 6

For seven days in June and July, the Esalen Institute celebrates the creativity and diversity of the arts with the Esalen International Arts Festival 2008. Six workshops, a special day of celebration and performances on July 4, and a group of exhibitions will pay homage to the infinite creative force within us all.

Registration for the seven-day workshops begins on the afternoon of June 29 and the festival continues through July 6 as the Esalen grounds pulsate with irresistible rhythms and sounds, acts of truth and imagination, and invocations of joy and beauty all woven into a vibrant tapestry of art, culture, and music.

• June 2006... Virginia Iglesias artistic director, choreographer, presents “REFLEJOS”, an evening of premiere works showcasing “Alma Flamenca” performance company. A vibrant ensemble of dancers and musicians/ dynamic choreographies and original musical scores by composer Jorge Liceaga. Special appearance by the “Flamenco Academy Performance Group”. 40 artists fill the stage to create an unforgettable evening of music and dance! ODC Theater, 3153 17th St. @ Shotwell, San Francisco.

 

 

• June 2005... The Flamenco Academy of Dance presents FLAMENQUEANDO, an exciting new program of original choreographies and music, at Mission Cultural Center, San Francisco. 6 world class musicians including violin, guitar, percussion, cante with 40 students from the Academy, share their passion for flamenco in an exciting evening of music and dance.

 



• February 2005... La Nina Productions and The Bay Area Flamenco Partnership presents: Virginia Iglesias Flamenco Dance Company in 'Voz del Tiempo', La Peña Cultural Center, Berkeley. 'Voz del Tiempo' explores the roots of the flamenco voice. 9 artists ignite the stage for a special evening of original music and choreographies.

 

• June 2004... ODC Theatre's Café Flamenco presents a special performance by students of the Flamenco Academy of Dance at the ODC Theater
in San Francisco.

 

• June 2004... Virginia Iglesias’ Flamenco Academy of Dance presents “CLAVELES, ABANICOS Y LUNARES,” a student recital at the Mission Cultural Center in San Francisco.
